Mountain Light Company's principal has been in lighting industry for over 30 years, leaning heavily towards the excitement of entertainment lighting. Although he studied Physics in college, entertainment lighting has always been his passion. John was the lighting designer and technical director of a 2,000 seat road-house, after which, he moved over to the industry side of the biz. The twelve years prior to forming Mountain Light Company John held senior management positions with Wybron and Lee Filters division of Panavision.
John has lectured extensively on color theory as it applies to film, television and live production. John is a listed inventor on two patents relating to the lighting and photographic industries and has helped solve lighting challenges in most every continent, whether of a creative or business origin.
A lighting designer and educator, Mr. Wolf has taught at the Universities of Michigan and Virginia and is currently Professor of Design and head of the design program at San Diego State University. His designs have been seen nation-wide and include work in the fields of theatre, dance, opera, entertainment, and architecture. Consulting experience includes staff with Gary Raub Associates, Architectural Theatre Consulting as well as lighting system consultation for Coronado School of the Arts, San Diego Museum of Man, San Diego Junior Theatre, San Diego State University, and San Diego Junior Colleges.
Craig is senior author of Scene Design and Stage Lighting, now in its ninth edition. He has been a member of the United Scenic Artists Design Union since 1977. Designs for Mountain Light Company include a Democratic National Convention event at Wings over the Rockies.
With over 20 years in the entertainment lighting industry, Carl brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to MLC.
Carl cut his teeth in the film industry rental houses of Hollywood as Rental Manager and Inside Sales. Most recently Carl filled many roles at Wybron Inc., a major manufacturer in the theatrical lighting industry. Following a stint in London - with his family - as Managing Director of Wybron’s UK operation, Carl returned to the USA in 1998 and took the role of International Sales Manager. Carl has a great understanding of customer needs in this time sensitive industry.
In his free time he likes to buff the Mini Cooper S, travel and play hockey.
Courtney joins Mountain Light Company with over a decade of experience selling and producing high impact corporate and social events for one of Colorado’s largest venues. She has produced all types of events from trade shows and parties to enormous gatherings of both corporate and political nature, including several Presidential appearances. She has overseen corporate product launches and worked with headline entertainers, where her experience with technical riders and attention to every event detail has resulted in seamless success for her clients. Although new to the lighting industry her background in event production and sales is a huge asset to the Mountain Light Company team.
Courtney is personally committed to supporting our military and veterans through her volunteer service on several foundation boards. She has a competitive nature and is an avid golfer who is available for any and all tournaments.
Marc Collins, our northern Rockies account executive, brings over 35 years of experience in the entertainment business to the team. Marc owned a stage lighting company and worked for many years as a stage and motion picture electrician. After 22 years in Washington, DC; working at the J. F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the National Theatre, Presidential Inaugurals, on national television programs and on major motion pictures, he has returned to his Boulder, Colorado home. These experiences have given him great insight into our client’s needs and the technical know-how to make their visions into reality. Marc is a sailor, cyclist, fly fisherman and skier.
Tonya has pursued her fascination and passion for lighting from high school all the way through to an MFA in Theatre Lighting Design from UC Irvine. Her work as a freelance designer and assistant has taken her to multiple venues from New York to California, New Orleans and back home to Colorado.
In addition to theatre lighting design, Tonya’s work at a multi-disciplinary lighting design firm in Southern California gave her the opportunity to light exciting events for Comedy Central and MTV Networks as well as supporting architectural lighting designs for several Margaritaville restaurants and numerous casinos in Las Vegas and China.
Tonya enjoys being able to use all of her diverse skills in one place with Mountain Light Company including design, CAD drafting and rendering, and programming. Tonya loves hiking and camping with her husband, Ryan and their dog, Padfoot.
Caroline has experience dating back to the 1980s as stagehand and spotlight operator. Currently, working side by side with John she has proven that LED technology is simple to use and can be easily understood by lighting professionals no matter what their experience level.
Advancing the Mountain Light Company brand and facilitating all aspects of the day to day operation of the office and shop are her primary duties. She is especially interested in giving back to the community by participating in local events. MLC has supported the Manitou Art Theater, KRCC Blues Under the Bridge and Colorado Online Virtual Academy to name a few. Her newest focus is bringing color balanced LED lighting to commercial and retail clients by promoting the enLux brand of R30 replacements, down lights and Slim Line Modules.
